Some Things You Just Never Forget!

There’s a reason that when people think of Branson, they think of THE SHOJI TABUCHI SHOW! From Osaka – to Nashville – to Branson, Shoji Tabuchi’s inspirational story is the stuff dreams are made of! With acclaim as one of the greatest entertainer’s in the world, Shoji Tabuchi is still Branson’s must-have ticket. At the show’s heart is  Branson USA’s first family of electrifying entertainment; Shoji Tabuchi, his beautiful wife Dorothy Tabuchi, and their multi-talented daughter Christina Lingo-Tabuchi. This family that plays, sings and dances encompasses all the wholesome values of truly great entertainment, yet rivals the pure excitement of Las Vegas and Broadway. By reputation, THE SHOJI TABUCHI SHOW is Branson’s best show.

Shoji, a native of  Osaka, Japan, began studying the violin at the age of seven at a time of classical training, under the guidance of his Mother. It took quite a few years before even he realized his virtuoso gift of music. He became a classical violinist.

During his college years, curiosity led him to attend a concert in Japan headlined by the legendary  Roy Acuff. The lilting bird-like quality of “Listen to the Mockingbird,” performed by the late  Howdy Forrester, intrigued Shoji. From that moment he decided American country music would become his life.

With $500 in his pocket, Shoji landed in San Francisco, polishing cars and waiting tables in Japanese restaurants to support himself. Playing nightclub gigs whenever he could, he never wavered from his American dream. Several years later, Shoji again met Roy Acuff who invited him on the  Grand Ole Opry. There he performed for two nights to tremendous applause and standing ovations. Too numerous to mention, Shoji then performed with virtually every star of country music fame.

His versatility and talent are incredible, delighting his audiences with western swing, bluegrass, country, Cajun, and even a bit of Mozart. In addition, he has a rich singing voice and a wonderful sense of humor that endear him to his many fans. During his touring years, he journeyed through a small town in the Ozark Mountains, falling in love with its picturesque setting, its charm, and its people. Branson became his home. The rest, as they say, is history. In a few short years, Shoji Tabuchi went from being a starring headliner on the Branson scene to building his own 2,000 seat, state-of-the-art theatre – selling out multiple times daily for decades. This surprisingly humble, down-to-earth artist delivers a high caliber show unlike any other. Shoji Tabuchi is true Branson royalty.

Enter  Dorothy Tabuchi. Long his devoted wife and partner, Shoji often publicly gives Dorothy sole credit for creating show after show. She is the show’s Executive Producer. She is both a dynamo of energy and a wellspring of ideas, surprising audiences with magnificent production numbers and costumes that are truly the talk of the town year after year.

Dorothy insists upon and maintains the touch of class that always has made The Shoji Tabuchi Show the must-see show in Branson.  The New York Times has said “  …polished, thoroughly professional staging” and  U.S. News & World Report, “… maybe unequalled anywhere for showmanship.” Dorothy is strikingly beautiful, endowed with grace and talent, and yes, southern charm. She is, be it known, a native of Louisiana. She connects with her fans with warmth and sincerity, because she genuinely believes that each and every person in the audience is important to her and her family. Whether she is on stage or conducting business with stage and costume designers or technical experts, her presence and guiding hand are felt in every facet of The Shoji Tabuchi Show.

Their Daughter,  Christina Lingo-Tabuchi, is a sheer delight. At the tender age of six, she entertained audiences with her charm and wonderful talent while sharing the stage with her parents, Shoji and Dorothy. Now, as an adult, she is already a seasoned show business veteran. Talent obviously runs in the family as Christina, in her many roles as a dancer, moves effortlessly between ballet, tap, and jazz. Christina, now following in her Mother’s footsteps, serves as the legendary show’s co-Producer and Director, as well as Dance Captain and Vocal Director. Christina is Branson’s original showstopper.

With his sense of musical perfection, Shoji searched long and hard for the right professional musicians to form his band. It is with great pride and affection every member, all of whom have one or more degrees in music, are introduced at every performance. Their repertoire includes everything from country to classical, played with all the subtlety or verve, as the music demands, of a gifted musical organization.

The superb entertainers are Christina’s domain. Working with renowned choreographers, and long hours of rehearsals, she has brought the company to a state of perfection. Their creativity ranges from dancing with twirling cowboy ropes to lively polkas to the Sugar Plum Fairy danced on toe during special Christmas performances. Since the days of the Old Testament, song has been an expression of joy, uplifting the spirit. The company’s extraordinary vocalists exemplify that joy with lovely ballads, songs of the 50’s and 60’s, big band, gospel … all to the toe-tapping delight of the audience. THE SHOJI TABUCHI SHOW takes you on a fantastic voyage filled with exceptional music, brilliant production numbers, spectacular dancing, and outstanding vocals with wonderful surprises around every corner! The Tabuchi family, along with their extraordinary cast of entertainers and musicians, are dedicated to excellence in family entertainment.
